(5) Add 1 quart when replacing oil filter or element. If level is at "ADD OIL" mark on dipstick, one quart of oil should be
added.
(6) Early models - 2% pints.
(7) Add 1 quart when equipped with heater. When equipped with air conditioning, use permanent-type anti-freeze, Mobil
Permazone, -all year. Drain at least once a year, preferably in the spring. The system must be protected for tempera-
tures down to +15°F in summer months. Always use at least 20% of the permanent type anti-freeze to insure adequate
protection against corrosion.
(8) Suburban - 22 gallons.

LUBRICATION SERVICE INFORMATION
Figures and numerals printed in italics and enclosed in parenthesis, an (D-1), refer
to illustrations and descriptions appearing on the Mobilubrication Dise Chart which
are applicable to 1960 cona truction.
FRONT SUSPENSION: - Movement of each lower control arm is controlled by a torsion bar, rather than a coll spring. The
torsion bar is hex-shaped at each end. The front end is anchored in the lower control arm while the rear end is anchored in
the engine rear support cross member. Movement of the lower control arm tenda to twist the torsion bar. Front car height can
be changed by adjus ting, twisting, the torsion bar at its rear end. The steering knuckle is mounted on ball joints in the upper
and lower control arma and are the only points in the front suspension requiring lubrication, a total of four points.
TRANSMISSION (D-1) Standard: Check lubricant level every 1000 miles. Add lubricant as required. Drain and refill every
10,000 miles.
Filter Opening and Level Gauge: Plug in housing, right side.
Drain: Plug in bottom of housing.
POWERFLITE (D-5) - Optional on all except Golden Commando. TORQUE FLITE (D-5). Optional on V8's. TORQUEFLITE
6 (D-5). Optional on 6. Check fluid le vel every 1000 miles. To make this check, apply the parking brake and push the "N
(Neutral) button. Idle the engine for a few minuten and then push each selector button, stopping momen tarily at each position,
ending in "N" position. Dipatick and filler hole on right side gre regched from under hood. Remove all dirt from around dip-
stick. With engine still idling, remove dipstick. The fluid level should be at the "F" mark, or slightly below, but never
above the "F" mark when the engine is at its normal warm condition. If it is necessary to check the fluid level when the
transmission is cold, the fluid level should be at, or slightly, below the "L" on the "Add One Pint" mark. Maintain level with
Mobilfluid 200 but do not overfill. To prevent dirt from entering the transmission make sure the dipstick cap is seated tightly.
Drain transmission every 10,000 miles or more frequently when the car is driven under any of the following conditions: Police
car or taxicab operation; Frequent towing of trailers; Frequent heavy traffic in hot weather; Continuous operation at higher
than normal loading. See Mobilubrication Bulletin "Correct Lubrication of Automatic and Semi-Automatic Transmissions" for
complete and approved instructions.
REAR AXLE: (D-6) - (Hypoid Gears) - Clean dirt from around filler hole, remove filler plug and check lubricant level every
1000 miles. Add lubricant as required to maintain level between bottom of filler plug hole and 1/2" below. Drain and refill at
least every 10,000 miles.
Sure-Grip limited slip differential optional. Cars with this differential can be identifled by letter "S" stamped direct-
ly after the stamped ratio on the lower side of the carrier case. After draining, Mobilube GX90.
Filler Opening and Level Gauge: Right side of drive pinion carrier.
Drain: Drain plug in bottom of housing.
POWER STEERING (K-3) - Constant Control optional. Check oil level in reservoir at rear of generator every 1000 miles.
Be fore removing the reservoir cap to check the level wipe the outside of the cap and housing so that no dirt can fall into the
reservoir. Remove cap. The oil should not be below the bottom of the filler neck. Maintain fluid at its indicated level with
Mobilfluid 200. Replace cap. Fluid from reservoir also lubricates steering gear.
MANIFOLD HEAT CONTROL: Place a few dropa of graphited keros ine on each end of shaft every 1,000 mi les, whren exhaust
manifold is cool, to keep shaft free. If shaft becomes frozen, free it by tapping each end of the shaft lightly with a hammer.
Work valve back and forth a few times.
SPEEDOMETER: Every 5,000 miles remove upper half of speedometer nacelle and remove speedometer from instrument
board. Apply Mobiloil Arctic to two brass cups on back of speedometer until the wicks are saturated. Reassemble.
OIL FILTER: (K-1) - Filter element on Savoy, Belvedere and Furyor complete filter on Golden Commando and Sona Ramic
should be replaced every 5000 miles or more often in dusty territories and under cold weather operation.
AIR CLEANER: (K-2) – Dry type cleaner is standard. Remove element from its container every 1000 miles and with com-
pressed air gently blow out the dirt. The compressed air nozzle should be held about 1" from the inside screen. Under
severe dust conditions, it may be necessary to clean the element more often. Install new element every 10,000 miles. The
air intake scoop must face the front of the car.
CRANKCASE VENTILATOR AIR CLEANERS: In oil filler pipe cap, and optional in outlet pipe. Wash elements in Sovasol
No. 5 and dry thoroughly, every 1000 miles or more frequently under severe dust conditions. Oil elements with Mobiloil A.
Allow excess oil to drain from elements, before replacing them.
GEARSHIFT LEVER: Every 10,000 miles, remove the rubber boot, pivot pin assembly and gear shift lever. Lubricate ball
end and pi vot pin holes areas generously with Mobilgrease MP. Reassemble.
AIR CONDITIONING, POWER BRAKES: Optional.
HAND BRAKE LINKAGE: Synchromesh transmission. Apply Mobiloil Arctic to pivot points every 1000 miles.
