THIS SHOW NEVER HAPPENED - IT WAS CANCELLED AND THIS POSTER IS ONE OF THE LAST TO SURVIVE BECAUSE MOST WERE DESTROYED WHEN THE SHOW WAS CANCELLED!!!

SEATTLE (AP) - What was to be a sizzling pop music extravaganza to mark the first commercial event in the Kingdome fizzled Tuesday when sponsors announced Its cancellation for lack of interest. King County still turned a ,000 profit on Supershow I, which had been scheduled for Saturday night. The rental agreement with the sponsors, Concerts West and Northwest Releasing, guaranteed the money to the county, and It had been paid. Pat O'Day, director of Concerts West, said ticket sales were "surprisingly slow." The projected paid attendance at the show would have been only about 10,000, compared to the 25,000 to 30,000 needed to break even. "It's just that Seattle wasn't accustomed to a concert this large," O'Day said. He said the cancellation "in no way changes these (sponsoring) companies' plans to place future shows" in the domed stadium. The performers plan to reschedule Seattle later in the year, he said. The performers scheduled to appear were comedian Bill Cosby and singers Anne Murray, Paul Anka, the Pointer Sisters and the Hudson Brothers. Refunds will be available starting Wednesday at outlets where the tickets were purchased, O'Day said. Stadium licensees granted liquor permits.
